[comp.sys.mac.misc] Two

1) Is there any way to change the colour of the garbage can? I have a
IIsi with system 6.0.7 (of course) with an AppleColor RGB monitor, and
whenever I try to change the colour of the garbage can (by selecting the
garbage can, and then selecting green under the color menu) it goes back
to just black when I restart.

2) Is there some way to edit the data fork of an application? I have a
number of applications which ask you to "customise" them by entering
your name and organistaion the first time they start up. I have done
this, but will be changing employers in the (not too distant) future,
and would like to be able to change this information. I know that I
could just re-install the software from the master disks, but some of
them managed to get customised on the master versions as well.

I tried to do this by binhexing the application, transferring it to a
unix machine, using xbin to convert this into data info and rsrc files,
deleting the data file, and then using mcvert to convert the rsrc file
to Macbinary, using mcvert again to convert the Macbinary to binhex, and
then transferring back to the Mac and "de-binhex-ing". This works,
except that the icon is now the generic application icon, and I can't
seem to get the right icon back again.

I looked with resedit, and the icon is there, and I tried bundle-up, but
it doesn't seem to make any difference.

Any ideas on either of these?

Thanks, Trevor Smedley
