When attempting to put the usenet software on an AT&T PC7300, inews and it's partners (rnews, etc) failed with the wonderful message "Memory Fault - core dumped". Don't panic.....it's a simple fix. Our friends at ????? who wrote the signal handler for the 7300 were nice enough to include a routine called "sigtrap" in their library. For those of you that have looked at the usenet source, you may have noticed the int "sigtrap" in a few of the modules. Guess what......when the signal routine tries to call sigtrap (the function) after sigtrap (the variable) has been set to FALSE (you guessed it) it tries to jump into the ozone (data space). The simple fix is to rename the sigtrap variable to something else (SigTrap perhaps), then wait an hour for the make to finish, then read the news at your leisure. Anyway......I hope this saves some of you the frustration..... __________ | ______ | (Rick Gessner) | | | | (AT&T Information Systems) | | | | (SDSS-Tech Support) | ------ | (Altamonte Springs, FL) | * +--- | |----------| (My opinions are just that....,etc.) |__________| (ihnp4!codas!nvzg2!rick)
