[comp.sys.mac.misc] DeskWriter and DiskLock

CAH0@bunny.gte.com (Chuck Hoffman) (11/20/90)

Last night, I hooked up my shiny new H-P DeskWriter inkjet printer to my
Mac-IIcx, running 6.0.4. I use DiskLock from Fifth Generation Systems
because I keep some confidential clinical information on the hard disk.
With the DiskLock init installed, the DeskWriter driver freezes up during
a print command, and you can't break out of it with command-period.
MacsBug ES command doesn't get things back, either, so you're stuck with a
reboot. Does anyone know anything about this problem?

Since the time I posted this, I contacted both vendors. Fifth Generation
says they have an upgrade for my DiskLock 1.0.1 to 2.0 for $30. (I did
register when I got the original.) H-P says they are aware of the problem
with 1.0.1, and that their DeskWriter driver is compatible with 2.0.
Currently, a new copy of DiskLock goes for a little over $100 from the
resellers.

Does anyone know what the problem actually is, or how it was fixed?

I believe someone said that it was a bug in DiskLock and users have to upgrade
to DiskLock 2.0.

The latest version of DiskLock is 2.0.1, you can get it from Fifth
Generation Systems. It fixes this problem.
