Hi. I'd like to hear from anyone who's used the new Canon BJ 10e bubble-jet printer with a Macintosh. As I understand it, this means you must use a QuickDraw or Postscript interpreter plus a serial to parallel cable. I am told that a QuickDraw interpreter will probably be faster and cheaper, and will suffice for most non-critical documents. I'm trying to decide between the BJ10e and a Hewlett-Packard DeskWriter. I can mail order the Canon printer for $300-$350 plus about $85 for GDT's JetLink Express QuickDraw interpreter (including cable). This system would be about $100-$200 cheaper than the HP printer (which doesn't need an additional QuickDraw interpreter), and would be portable to boot. On the other hand I'd have to pay another $75 for a sheet feeder for the BJ10e. I've got a Mac Plus (soon to be replaced with a Classic) and 2.5 Mb RAM. Does anyone have any opinions on this? I don't know what kind of performance to expect from the BJ10e printer in terms of speed and graphics compatibility. Thanks in advance! Ralph (rgonzal@chowder.rutgers.edu)
