[comp.sys.mac.misc] SuperPaint 2.0 Printing over appletalk

fs285119@seas.gwu.edu (Scott Cherkofsky) (11/22/90)

I manage a network that has both Ethernet and Appletalk access between the
Macintoshes (mostly SE/30's with a few MAC II's). We have two Laserwriter
IINT's (one has been upgraded to the IINTX).

Problem:

When I try to print FROM ANY MAC ON EITHER NETWORK from superpaint 2.0 the
Printmonitor thinks for a bit, and then says that it has come up with a
overflow of some sort, encountered a bad command and sometimes even tells
me that a Postscript error has occurred.

Has anyone ever had this happen before? If so, is there a fix?

Thanx in advance for all of your help, I appreciate it muchly!

Scott.

Yes, we see this with unsettling regularity. Usually the problem is prefaces
with "the file printed OK yesterday, then today I added few things and now it
won't print." So far I've assumed that SuperPaint is somewhat brain-damaged
when it comes to printing complicated graphics to a PostScript (tm) printer.

If you are *desparate* you can save the file from SuperPaint as a MacPaint
file and then use MacPaint to print that (not pretty, but it works, sortof.)

I don't thing that this is an AppleTalk or a PostScript problem, but I am
willing to entertain any ideas that others might have.

I hope this is useful,
---Paul.
