Software (on my computer at home): SendPS v2.0 (c)1986 (obtained from sumex-aim.stanford.edu) LaserFix v2.0 (obtained from sumex) LaserPrep v5.2, System Software 6.0.5 Laserwriter printer driver v5.2, System Software 6.0.5 I have been printing postscript files to disk for several weeks now, at home, from various programs including Microsoft Word, MacDraw, and Mathematica. I then take the postscript files to one of several Mac labs here on campus and (try) to print the files on Laserwriter+'s or Laserwriter II's using SendPS. Sometimes it works, but usually it doesn't. If it works, everything functions normally. If it doesn't work, SendPS does something for a few seconds, the Laserwriter flashes busy for a few seconds, then SendPS says something like "flushing buffer...skipping rest of file". And nothing ever comes out of the Laserwriter. I have tried printing the files with and without LaserPrep prepended. I try rebooting the Mac and the Laserwriter. Sometimes this fiddling gets it to print. Sometimes not. If it matters, I think that the Macs I am using to print have the same version of LaserPrep I do, but I need to check some of them (at least one of the Macs I tried to print on had LaserPrep 5.2). In case you are wondering, the reason I don't print directly from the apps is that the Macs for printing often can't run the app I need due to lack of memory or HD space (especially with Mathematica), and besides, I don't want to carry my apps around if I can avoid it. I would appreciate any help, suggestions, observations, clarification questions, or anything you have to say. Thanks. -- Erik Reuter, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Internet: e-reuter@uiuc.edu UUCP: uunet!uiucuxc!uiuc.edu!e-reuter
