I've already asked this in comp.sys.mac.apps, and got a couple of good replies, but I had been hoping for a lot more. I'm about to buy my first color Mac (IIsi), and I want to get a good 8-bit color graphics program to go with it. MUST HAVE features: Ease of use -- so even my 9-year old can use it comfortably. Fun to use -- so all my kids (and myself) WILL use it. Not too limiting -- because my older kids are pretty good artists. Reasonable price -- say, $300 tops, discount price. Doesn't break on a IIsi! I don't care about: Color separation, etc. -- I don't plan to buy a color printer. :-( Precision -- it's for artistic enjoyment, not drafting. Would be nice: My kids really like gradient fills in Studio/1; I think similar special effects would be lots of fun, if they don't complicate the interface too much. I've gotten two recommendations for PixelPaint, one mention of Color MacCheese, and one person points out that Zedcor has a great sale on now for its DeskPaint/DeskDraw DAs. In the past I've found the opinions of you fellow net-users to be very helpful indeed; please let me know what you think. E-mail is best (to conserve bandwidth--I'll see any postings also); I'll summarize if I get enough (or meaty enough) responses. a T d H v A a N n K c S e -- Dave Matuszek (dave@prc.unisys.com) -- Unisys Corp. / Paoli Research Center / PO Box 517 / Paoli PA 19301 -- Any resemblance between my opinions and those of my employer is improbable. < You can put a mouse on an IBM.
