I do not know which of these groups is the right one but I think some people will benefit from this: The trimlib shell script I received with netnews 2.10.3 ends with '/etc/chown...'. For System V machines this will result in failure since the chown is in /bin, not /etc/ Also, could someone explain to me what it actually does. The version I have rotates news -> news.1, news.1 -> news.2 ... Nothing there seems to trim log or history. Do I have a censored copy? Thanks everyone. This net is really fun! Simon.

I assumed that the author of trimlib had modified news so that it kept its log in a file called news not log. I modified my version of trimlib to rotate log instead of news and everything seems to be working just fine. -- ...smeagol\ Steve Schlaifer ......wlbr->!jplgodo!steve Advance Projects Group, Jet Propulsion Labs ....group3/ 4800 Oak Grove Drive, M/S 156/204 Pasadena, California, 91109 +1 818 354 3171
