I have seen previous postings on this topic, but I never really payed attention. Until now, that is. A friend of mine without access to the 'Net has ben getting this error on his IIsi. What was the consensus on what to do about this problem? My Mac IIsi is coming in 1 week or so and I what to be prepared. Will PseudoFPU handle this error, or is it something deeper? Various programs that others said work, don't work (sorry, I don't have the specifics here with me) and this problem scares me. So can anyone help? | John Taggart Gorman Jr. | "I'm a no rust build up man myself." | | -Christian Slater | jtgorman@caslon.cs.arizona.edu | in 'Heathers'

PseudoFPU totally eliminates the "coprecessor not installed" error, with a tremendous sacrifice in speed. It's about box states that using PseudoFPU is 100 times slower than a 68881, which is in turn slower than the 68882 coprocessor on Apple's adaptor board. As an si owner, I have been using PseudoFPU temporarily. Once third party companies show more si expansion products, I will definitely buy a real coprocessor of some sort. -Glen

An 030 PDS one WITH the FPU installed is $100 (educational) while a model which also has a slot for PSI's Cache-It $300 (ed) RAM cache costs $135 (ed) or $199 (non-ed). PSI is at (800)622-1722 (my only relationship with the company is as a client).
