I am trying to get software (Disinfectant 2.4 and OzTeX) off the net for
my Mac. I am able to get the files, but I can't UnStuff them or Binhex them.
I have UnStuffIt 1.5.1 and Binhex 5.0.
Here is the procedure I am using.
1. ftp from my Compaq 386 to the appropriate site
2. type binary when I am connected
3. mget the file(s) to my 386
4. close that connection
5. ftp from my 386 to the machine on our system that is connected
by modem to the Mac
6. type binary when I am connected
7. put the files from the 386 onto the machine connected to the Mac
(I don't know what sort of a machine it is, but I can't ftp
directly _from_ it)
8. transfer the files from the machine connected to the Mac over to
the Mac using MacTerminal in 9600 baud MacBinary mode
9. Once I have the files, try to open an archive from UnStuffIt 1.5.1,
but it doesn't see these files. Also I tried (with Disinfectant)
to run Binhex, but it just seems to create another file that I can't
open.
I'm not an extremely sophisticated user, and I would really appreciate
any help. Thanks. Please reply to me if possible.
