[comp.sys.mac.misc] NCSA Telnet 2.4b6 released

sbulmahn@yoyodyne.ncsa.uiuc.edu (Dr Thrasher) (12/28/90)

NCSA Telnet version 2.4 BETA 6 is now available on anonymous ftp from
ftp.ncsa.uiuc.edu. Included in this release is a substantial amount of bug
fixed from previous versions. Also included is full implementation of TCP,
including the much wanted TCP name resolving. This allows NCSA Telnet to
be used at the same time as any other TCP product.

Some bug fixes include:
more line-mode implementation to connect correctly to more machines.
VMS carriage return now works correctly for hopefully ALL VMS machines.
Convex connections now dont produce a lot of garbage on the screen.
Most of TEK4105 is in working order. There are still some problems, tho.
Added the ability to enable/disable line-mode comunications.
Added several ways to choose TEK emulation.
Negotiations were totally overhauled, correcting A LOT of random problems.

If you are a serious user of NCSA Telnet, please take the time to upload
this version and test it out. As always, please do take the time to send
all bug reports to us so that we can fix the problems that are "bugging"
you, so to speak.

You can send bug reports to: telbug@ncsa.uiuc.edu
