I have a problem with a Mac II and a Jasmine Direct Drive 140 (DD140). I just received the DD140 back from Jasmine after they replaced the platter. Here are the problems that I am having. Problem #1 ========== I can't get the Mac to boot with the Jasmine hooked up into the SCSI port and turned off. The Mac 'bongs' and then I get an arrow cursor that I can't move. I have to use the reset switch (to reset) or the power shutdown on the back. If I turn the DD140 on, everything works fine. If I unplug the DD140 from the SCSI port, everything works fine. I'm not sure what the problem is. I looked inside the Jasmine for the terminator. From the 'wonderful' Jasmine documentation, I couldn't find it, but I think that it should be there. Problem #2 ========== If I just live with either keeping the Jasmine on, or disconnecting it from the SCSI port, I get another problem. The Mac keeps unexpectedly crashing. First thing I did was to check for viruses with Disenfectent 2.4. Nothing. Next I tried removing INITS, everything but Aask, Topps, and Topps Spool. Again no better. The Mac doesn't crash consistantly, although it seems to happen mostly when an application is opened, but not always. I have also tried turning the Ram Cache off, and starting up from the DD140. These things don't seem to help. The error bomb that I get is ID #12 'MC6800 encountered non-existing trap number'. I am running system 6.0.5 on both drives. Any suggestions on either or both problems would be suggested. Thanks for all of your help. ----------------------------- -Kevin Hansen---------------- -Minnesota Twin Family Study- -University of Minnesota----- -ehall@ux.acs.umn.edu-------- -----------------------------
