During a recent visit to the OSU Computer Store, I was told by a sales rep that the two drive LC (that lists for $1269.00 in the OSU price guide) was available, but could only be sold to university departments/staff via an internal, "special order" procedure. I.E., such machines could not be purchased by individual end users, but by departments who would then distribute the machines internally to specific users. Such machines would not be owned by the users, but rather by the department. Individual end users could only purchase the 40 Mb/2Mb RAM unit, that lists for $1639.00 Can anyone at another campus/Apple confirm this or a comparable availability arrangement?

When the original price list for the LC came out here at Stanford, ONLY the 2/40 model was listed [at $1519]. However, just before Christmas, they came out with a new price list which INCLUDED the LC 2 floppy model. There is no mention anywhere on the price list of restrictions on who can buy it... therefore I assume an ordinary student can go in any plonk down their $1150 or whatever, and pick one up [when they ship in]. -- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Evan Torrie.
