I have downloaded the Psuedo FP cdev from the University of Michigan archive. There is no cdev resource setting in the executable, but instead, there is an xdev resource. Should I change xdev to cdev to get this thing to work at all? -- James B. Hansen {sun, uunet}!convex!jhansen CONVEX Computer Corporation jhansen@convex.COM 3000 Waterview Parkway, P. O. This is probably what happened. So yes, you should change the xdev back to cdev. You should check the file type to make sure that's also cdev as well. -- Dean _______________________________________________________________________________ Dean Yu | E-mail: mystone@mondo.engin.umich.edu Patches 'R' Us | Real-mail: Dean Yu A Division of Cyberite Systems | 909 Church St Apt C | Ann Arbor, MI 48104 I'm not the voice of Reason, much | Phone: 313 662-4073 less the voice of Cyberite. | 313 662-4163 -------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Assuming that what you mean by "there is no cdev resource setting in the executable" is that the file type is not cdev but rather is xdev, the answer is yes. What it looks like is happening is that the cdev has been "turned off" by an INIT manager like Aask. While there are a couple of ways these things work, one way is to change the file type from cdev to xdev. -- Jim Spencer - via The Minnesota Macintosh Users Group UUCP-Fido Gateway UUCP : ...uunet!tcnet!kksys!edgar!mmug!22.510!Jim.Spencer INTERNET: Jim.Spencer@p510.f22.n282.z1.fidonet.org
