Hi, I tried to do "shift enter" to force a page break in word4.00B and it doesn't work! Actually, it show the page break correctly both in print preview and page view but not in the print out! Further investigations show that the page numbering in the Table of Content does not match what is shown in the box at the left bottom corner of the window! Is this a well known bug?? I think it works well for Word4.00....I check there is no virus using the latest disinfectant (v 2.6?) and shown no infection.... By the way, the system is: Mac IICX, system 6.0.5, LaserWriter 6.0.1, Thanks! . =============================================================================== Alvaro Hui |ACSnet, a.hui@trl.oz.au 4th Year B.E.\ B.Sc. |Internet & akkh@mullian.ee.mu.OZ.AU University of Melbourne |Arpanet rcoahk@koel.co.rmit.OZ.AU

I just launched Word 4.00B and did a few tests. What is probably wrong is that the problematic page break has had the "Hidden Text" style applied to it. You will probably find that the following are true: 1. "Show Hidden Text" is checked in the "Preferences" dialog. Because of this, the page break behaves as normal in all screen displays. 2. "Print Hidden Text" is unchecked in the "Print" dialog. Because of this, the page break doesn't "print", or more accurately the page break is ignored when the document is printed. Solution: Select that page break, then choose "Character" from the "Format" menu and uncheck the "Hidden" style. If this doesn't solve it, then I'm stumped because manual page breaks work like a charm on my copy of Word 4.00B. The test I just did was a 3-page thing consisting of nothing but: Page 1 [page break] Page 2 [page break] Page 3 If I "hide" the second page break I get the symptoms you describe. "Page 1" appears on the first page, then "Page 2" and "Page 3" both appear on page 2, even though Print Preview tells me there are three pages. If I unhide the second page break, everything prints as it should. chaz -- Someone please release me from this trance. clarson@ux.acs.umn.edu AOL:Crowbone -- Someone please release me from this trance. clarson@ux.acs.umn.edu AOL:Crowbone
