The submenu (hierarchical menu) problem has a new twist. Any program which is supposed to have a submenu only only comes up with the arrow. By continuing to hold down that menu selection for 5 seconds, the submenu does eventually appear. I first noticed the problem with System 6.0.7 on a IIcx. The same problem occurs with System 6.0.2 when booted from a floppy. I've replaced AND reinstalled 6.0.7 and trashed all my INITs but the problem persists. It is very annoying since I use several programs which have submenus but it takes 5 seconds every time I need to access a submenu. Any advice on this bizarre problem would be appreciated. One of the compromises that had to be made when hierarchical menus were introduced was that people would sometimes drag across other selections in the parent menu to get to selections in the submenu, causing the submenu to disappear and generally confusing everyone. Because of this, there's a neat little non-obvious hack in the hierarchical menu manager that keeps track of mouse directionality. If you've got a hierarchical menu displayed, and move to another hierarchical menu selection in the parent menu, AND all of your mouse movement is toward the then-present submenu, it will take a little while for the menu manager to decide that you really want what you're pointing at. Could this be the problem? >Chris Helget >Email: amadeus@pnet51.orb.mn.org > >UUCP: {amdahl!bungia, uunet!rosevax, crash}!orbit!pnet51!amadeus >ARPA: crash!orbit!pnet51!amadeus@nosc.mil >INET: amadeus@pnet51.orb.mn.org -- Mark Hartman, N6BMO "What are you just standing there for?
