[comp.sys.mac.misc] Mac on/off question

horcel@kuhub.cc.ukans.edu (02/13/91)

Is there a way to enable the on/off key on my mac se/30? I had the power
switch replaced already, and I've been using the mac for only 6 months!
Also, is there a program that turns off the mac when the Shutdown is
  selected?

Buy the Powerkey from Sophisticated Circuits; available from
MacConnection (1-800-800-2222) for $65. It is exactly what you are looking
for. It is easy to install and has four plug recepticles with surge
suppression. The package includes a copy of Quickkeys Lite a keyboard
macro program. I have one for my SE/30.

I just recieved my PowerKey. It enables the 'on' key and causes
'shutdown' to shutdown the mac as well as whatever else you
plug in to it (monitor, printer, modem...). Very nice.

It also has a built in timer, so that you can have everything turn on at
a specified time (have your computer started up before you get to
the office each day (!) , lets see 30 seconds per day x some hourly rate and
the thing will pay for itself in a few hundred years. )

He who dies with the most toys wins.
