I do it all the time in my office using my Macintosh SE. If the LocalTalk loop is not heavily loaded, performance is quite good. You likely want to have a DDP/IP gateway (GatorBox or FastPath) if you're using TCP/IP transport. This will take the IP packets which are encapsulated in AppleTalk packets and put them on an Ethernet as naked IP packets.
