A friend is planning to buy a Mac system to help with her graphic arts work (she freelances for publishers who are increasingly using Macs in their offices). Applications are likely to be the Freehand or Illustrator type. Her requirements are a full page gray scale display (color not required, nor two-page) and reasonable cost. I wish to make sure she also gets enough computing power to handle a large graphics application and a large 8-bit screen. I know enough about Macs to configure them for the kind of applications I use at work, but I'm not familiar with how graphics applications work. I'm also not to current on the specs of the newest machines. I can figure out what kind of disk and how much memory. The questions I have are things like Is a 68020 system powerful enough, or should we go for a 68030? Which is the minimum system that will provide reasonable performance? What would be the best monitor to get? Thanks for any recommendations. /JBL = = Nets: levin@bbn.com | "How does a mouse let me move the cursor anywhere or {...}!bbn!levin | I want?"
