A couple of days ago, I posted a message asking if an INIT existed to assign color modes to applications such that you wouldn't need to switch modes using the Monitors Control Panel Device, but simply clicked on the application and the monitor would switch automagically to the required color mode. I would like to thank Allan Burton, Kurt Tappe, Chang Hsu Liu, and Barry Eynon for their responses. Two of them told me about an application called Hand-off II, which as one of its many features can do just this. This program is available commercially. The other two told me about a CDEV called Depth Guage, which is available at sumex-aim.stanford.edu for ftp. It doesn't do exactly what I wanted, but it makes it easier to change color modes. All you have to do to change color modes, is hold the control key and click on the menu bar. This brings up a menu which allows you to select the color mode that you want. I downloaded it from sumex last night, and it turns out to be exactly what I wanted....an easy way to change color modes... I hope other people find this information useful, Ken Anderson U.C. Irvine
