Warning: this is a rumor. Has anybody heard about this? That is, that Apple was making 286 or 386 version of the Macintosh toolbox. A friend of mine told me this, but I don't know where he got it. If that's confirmed, anybody knows what Apple plans? (Licensing the ROM to clone makers or making new cheap Macs?) If they are, let's hope Apple has enough foresight to realize that the
286 is a dead chip, and write for the 386 only. By the time they're
finished 386 machines will be selling for $1000.
