I frequently transport text files between my Mac and our department Sun workstations via an MSDOS disk. This requires using Apple File Exchange which works nicely when the file type is TEXT. However, I have some straight text files that do not have type TEXT that end up translating using the default translation (which is binary). I would like to force text translation for these files. Does anyone know how to make AFE apply specific translators to given file types? (I am not interested in actually changing the file type with resedit each time. I would like something permanent within AFE.) Aside: The file types I am having trouble with are MATS and MATF. These are matlab .m files for the mac and I realize that matlab provides a translation to a text file for these but I do not want to have to do two translations. It seems that the matlab translation only changes the file types so that they can be recognized by matlab. -- EE Department Princeton University chase@ee.princeton.edu
