Need help to make macs run ms dos aplication on a mac network.

I need help to show that macs ARE a reasonable alternative to
MeSsydos machines in a large medical center setting that has
historically been painted blue.

We have an ms dos application written in CLIPPER that currently
runs on a novell network, using data files residing on the server.

One of our departments that has had the vision and courage to fly against
the prevailing BLUE laws now MUST run this application.
I would like to make this possible for them, so that the forces of
MSdos will not be able to point out that Mac systems "just won't
do what our intstitution needs.."

We are considering putting in either msdos software or hardware emulation
into the mac workstations that need to run the application.

We need to know if it will be possible for us to put the ms dos data files
on a mac server and be accessible to macs running msdos emulations.

Or if the alternative of adding an msdos server to the mac net to
hold the msdos data files and acessing them from the mac workstations is
preferrable.

Or if there is a clipper compiler that would allow us to port the
application to the macworld, and if so does it work under these
circumstances.

Does anyone have any experience with this type pf problem? What did you find
worked? Is it worth considering this any further?

Thanks to all.
