[comp.sys.mac.misc] ACK!! White Knight 11.10 munged my text transfers!!!

dburr@headcrash.berkeley.edu (Donald Burr) (03/14/91)

I recently downloaded a whole bunch of text files from UNIX, using
zmodem (sz -a for ASCII transfers), and the recieving end was White
Knight 11.10 running on my Mac Classic. But the transfers screwed up!
Everything appers on one line, with no line breaks at all, and weird
control characters where CR's are supposed to be.

Can someone please point me to the source of a solution? A Mac program
that parses the downloaded file, and replaces those weird control chars
with CR's would be nice! If all you can provide is source code, or
an idea for how to write this, that will be fine, since I've got both
C and Pascal compilers.

If you would say to change the configuration under file transfer section,
that wouldn't help. I have it very specifically set so that I can easily
transfer non-macbinary files using KERMIT (this is the only protocol that
my home UNIX system will take), and I don't want to keep on having to reset
configuration or juggle configuration files.

Any and all help appreciated! Thanks!

don't "sz -a", just sz (i.e. binary tranfser mode). what
you've described has worked for me many times.
