This item describes a bug in mailing to uucp addresses on a Codata Systems computer (a 68k running UniSoft V7). Codatas don't come with source licenses, of course, so UniSoft's uucp takes the machine name from a file. Codata recently gave us a version of uucp which corrects the old UniSoft uucp checksumming bug which made their uucp unable to talk to anyone else's. This uucp seems to work, though somewhat flakily, in that some letters were dropped down a black hole. Unfortunately, we found that when we mailed to other machines, our site name came out as "UniSoft". The problem is in /bin/mail, which has its idea of the site name in the binary. We fixed this problem by patching the binary. Sam Kendall {allegra,ihnp4,ima,amd70}!wjh12!kendall Delft Consulting Corp. decvax!genrad!wjh12!kendall

Does anyone have (or know where we may obtain) fixes for uucp on Venix? (Yes, we have been trying to get a response from VentureCom...)
