[comp.sys.mac.misc] MultiSpool & DeskWriter

I finally installed the new DeskWriter 2.1 driver in my system file, and
immediately tried out 'MultiSpool,' a shareware program available at the
Sumex-Aim archives. It works! Very nearly flawlessly! I'm printing out a
document as I'm typing this post. I'm currently using a Mac IIsi, and
system 6.0.7. The only quirk is that when you print a document from Word 4.0,
you have to hit the 'suspend,' then the 'resume' button when you print
something. Other applications seem to work right off the bat.

In 256 color mode, the computer seems to be significantly slowed down, but in
black & white, the computer is hardly slowed down at all! Best of all, the
DeskWriter seems to chug along at full speed! I.e., it doesn't print a chunk
of text, wait awhile, print more text, and so on.

I take back what I said about there being a minor quirk with MultiSpool, and the
DeskWriter (driver version 2.1). You have to turn off the parameter 'start
suspended,' and it will begin printing from any program immediately.
