I am a college student here at UCSB and for the past year I have been thinking about dumping my 2meg 512KE to my mother and buying a new mac. When I first decided this, I wanted a IIcx. Then the IIci came out and my jaw dropped. I waited for awhile and then the IIfx came out. Knowing that I could not even think of affording the fx, I decided to stick with the IIci. Last year, Apple had a student loan plan that would allow a student to get a low-interest, def- ferable student loan. Unfortunately, I had some problems arise and the whole thing went down the tubes. So I waited.... I was really excited to see the new macs come out this past October, especially, the IIsi. This puts me in a bit of a quandary. What computer is the right one to get.? I am Nuclear Engineering/Physics major and I need power, but I don't know how much I need nor do I know how much I need to expand. Do I need to scrap the 6 1/2 year old 2meg 512KE (it was an original 128K) or should I keep it? Since a lot of other students and or people with similar financial situations suscribe to this group, I will be more than happy to post the results to the group, if there is enough interest.
