I downloaded Multispool from Sumex and tried to use it - put it in my system folder and rebooted, and tried to print something - but nothing would print. Then I selected it from the menu, and tried to activate it, but then it hang the machine. Anyone know why? I am using a Mac IIx with System 6.0.5 and I am running Multifinder. Maybe you should select it from the DA menu first and see if it needs configuring. *THEN* try to print something (not before). Also, make sure you have enough free memory, or it won't run (although in that case you should bet a -49 error dialog). As for hanging the machine, yes, you definitely want to avoid selecting it from the MultiFinder application list in the Apple menu, *and* avoid selecting it by clicking the icon at the right end of the menu bar. You'll freeze for sure. This is a bug, I presume. Yours, Paul DuBois dubois@primate.wisc.edu

This is a bug, I presume. Thanks for your suggestions, Paul. Unfortunately, I've already tried all those: I turned it on *first* before printing, I didn't select it from the application section nor multifinder icon flip, and finally, I had over a meg free. I think it is probably an INIT conflict, and I just haven't had time to track it down yet. (Yes, I *have* looked in INITinfo, but it doesn't mention MultiSpool specifically.) Ian, Have you checked to see if you have Apple's PrintMonitor in your System Folder? A while back when I tried Multispool on my system, I had the same kind of problems that you seem to be having and it turned out that Multispool requires PrintMonitor to function properly (or at least solved the problem in my case).
