I'm trying to help out a friend by FTPing some stuff out of the FTP sites, down to my MS-DOS computer, and then over to his Mac LC via Apple File Exchange. Two problems I'm hoping someone might be able to answer for me: 1) When I converted over some sound files, I tried to read them with SoundEdit but I couldn't even read them (SoundEdit wouldn't recognize them as either file or resource.) Can someone tell me what program (or conversion technique) I need to use to read sound files? They are Mac sound files. 2) When I downloaded the files from the FTP sites, they had two suffixes--<filename>.sit.hqx. I know that the .sit is Stuffit, but would anyone be able to tell me what .hqx is and how I can uncompress/get rid of it? If you can answer eithe question, I'd appreciate it if you could email it to me (I don't usually subscribe to this channel.) Or if you can think of another newsgroup where this question might be better situated, I'd appreciate that too.
