I owuld jsut like to let all know how professional my FIRST dealing with Dantz Corp. was. I was at a customers site that had a Digital(tm) TLZ04 Dat tape they weren't using. My customer wanted to use this as a backup device for his Mac. Knowing that Retrospect does indeed B/U to DAT's, I figured what they heck, lets try it out. Well when we tried it didn't recognize the drive as a valid device. It did see the drive as a streaming device, but that was it.. After calling the Tech Dept, I talked with Charles and Bren.. After calling back with the correct ID for the TLZ04, Bren had me go into RESEDIT and change a few characters in ID string..Viola!! It now worked GREAT.. ANd fast too..... I must admit that this was GREAT support!!!! Not only did they know what they were doing, they didn't even ask about the customers sserial # or anything... I use FastbackII at home, but will also buy Retrospect, after this incident... Now on a side note.. My friend moved his Mac from his dungeon downstairs to a room upstairs.. His wife mistakeingly canned his Quark3.0 manuals.. After a call to Quark for help they told him... 1) Whats your serial # before I talk to you....!!! 2) No you can't REPURCHASE your manuals... 3) Put in a Claim with your homeowners insurance, and BUY anther copy of Quark!! Great service Huh.... Let's all commit fraud with our insurance.. Now I know why we pay so much for insurance.. I was going to look at getting Quark, but not now.. I'll stick with PM 4.0... Service will be the key NOW and in the FUTURE.. I'll gladly pay a little more for it... I'll second that. Here's another rave for Dantz's tech support. I've
never had occasion to call them because of a problem with Retrospect,
but I've spoken with them twice about issues related to my Teac drive.
The people I spoke to were knowledgable and helpful, and didn't even
put me on hold once... :-)
Retrospect is an excellent product, and one that is only further
enhanced by Dantz's top-notch technical support.
