[comp.sys.mac.misc] Backup over net -- again! :-)

dswt@stl.stc.co.uk (D.S.W.Tansley) (04/08/91)

I seem to remember this cropping up not too long ago -- FAQ anyone?

Anyway, what do folks recommend in the way of automating an overnight/-
background backup scheme for a commercial Mac installation of 4 zones
and 30ish Macs?

We have looked at MacDumper. It's looks fine in principle, but the
documentation is poor, the copyright position unclear, and the version
numbering confusing (we have seen Restore 2.0Beta and Dumper 3.1 -- are
these the latest? They seem to be from 1988/9)

Questions:
1. Have we seen the latest MacDumper? Is it worth it?
2. Is there a commercial equivalent to this software? In the UK?
2. We have considered the tape-drive option and JetStream with
NetStream seems the most attractive -- any users of these out there that
   might care to comment?
3. Are there any other options that we haven't considered?

Thanks for your help! I'll sumamrise back if feedback warrants it.
