I finally isolated the problem to an INIT conflict. I had replaced my copy of word with a copy from my master disks, and I had trashed my word settings file to rebuild a new one, but the problem (address error) still occured. I then turned off all of my INITs using Microseeds INITPicker, (an excellent product by the way, and well worth the 40 bucks they ask for it), and the problem went away. Using INITPicker I added one INIT back at a time and discovered that the conflict was with DepthGauge v. 2.5.2. (another excellent product, and well worth the 1 dollar that they ask for it) I contacted the authors of DepthGauge, and with their usual amazingly fast service, fixed the bug overnight! The next release will contain the bug fix, and in the interm (the next release is due out soon), they sent me a copy that I could use which wouldn't mess with Word 4.0. So in the end, the problem was solved, and I got in two ads for products with which I have no relation except being a satisfied customer.... Ken Anderson
