I'm a relatively fast hunt-'n'-peck typist, but I figured it's high time I learn some organized method of typing. What better way than to teach myself Dvorak? So I grabbed the "Keyboard Layout" cdev for my Mac. Since I'm running System 7.0, I decided to turn the cdev into a keymap file that I could then pop into my System file. Well, first off, in my ResEdit tinkerings, I've somehow managed to make the Dvorak keymap a permanent part of my System file! It no longer shows up when I open the System file, although I can get at it through ResEdit as a keymap resource. What makes a keymap file a keymap file? What resources do I need to put into it? And it's a pain that the Control keys aren't mapped, although this is supposedly set straight in the "Electronic Dvorak" cdev. I can't find ED anywhere; could someone please tell me where to find it, or send me a copy, please? Thanks for any help you might be able to offer! (I'm typing this letter in Dvorak right now, and averaging about four or five words per minute; let's hope I improve! ;) -- Brian -- (now, where are the greater-than and less-than keys on this thing?) | Brian S.
