Here's a question about bitmapped fonts. On my system, I have a number of "font families" like, for example, Futura Condensed, which have separate font names for the different styles, i.e., C Futura Condensed, CB Futura Condensed Bold, CO Futura Condensed Oblique, CBO Futura Condensed BoldOblique. Theoretically, the FOND resource for that font family should contain the information that has the system substitute CB Futura Condensed Bold when you apply bold styling to regular Futura Condensed. However, on some of these font families, if you examine the FOND with ResEdit, one of the pointers is missing; so three of the styles come out correctly, but the other one is wrong -- usually plain italics. This also happens when I print to an ImageWriter. The FOND editor in ResEdit won't let you add new pointers to styles, so I can't see any way to fix this. Running the font through Font Harmony doesn't help. Is there a way to fix this problem? If ATM is running, then there's no problem, but I don't have enough RAM to comfortably run ATM all the time. -- ---- Seth Tisue USMail: c/o Plaster Cramp Press ---- (tisu@midway.uchicago.edu) P.O.
