According to Inside Mac, the resource manager searches for resources by first looking in the current document, then the current application, and then finally the system. Is this true for font resources? My problem is that I want to make some changes to a font (Symbol 18) in a single MS Word 4.0 document. Here's what I did. With ResEdit, I created a resource fork for the document and copied the Symbol 18 font from the system resources into the new document resource fork. I then modified some of the characters of Symbol 18 (the one stored in the document's resource fork), and saved my changes. This procedure has no effect, that is, when I run MS Word, the document looks exactly the same. Is it possible to do what I want to do, or have I made a mistake? Thanks, Rob ward@psy.cmu.edu rw23@andrew.cmu.edu
