[comp.sys.mac.misc] The dreadful seven

choda@milton.u.washington.edu (Bob Marley) (04/23/91)

Welp, I finnally got system 7 and installed it. It was quite impressive on
the first boot, neat icons, neat stuff, new beeps the whole lot.... Then I
crashed. Now I cant even boot with it any longer.... It will boot up to
where all the menues are and then it will give me a dialog window like the
one that appears when you do an interrupt (minus the carret, or is it carrot?)
and it flashes a bit and stays there... I have tried several things. Trashed
dekstop over desktop, removed EVERYTHING except the system and the finder
from their folder and combed the HDs for other evil systems lying around to
conflict..... I really want to play with this toy more.... any suggestions
as to how I can get my finder back? Is that the problem the finder? Or do
I jsut have bad gas?

I'd suggest reinstalling the software. If it works for system 6.0.?when you
have problems, it should also work for system 7 too.....

Gee, I just can't figure why Apple won't release beta versions of system
software to the general public.

Well, after hours of strain and problems, I finnally asked for another copy
and re-installed it from the master disks.... It was the system file that
was corrupted some how...
