[comp.sys.mac.misc] TrueType and System 6.0.x.

agus@sumax.seattleu.edu (Supriatno Agus) (04/25/91)

Does anybody know if TrueType works with System 6.0.x or does it
not? If it does, how do you get it to work?

Please e-mail your responses to agus@Seattleu.EDU.

Thank you.

It works for me on an SE running 6.0.7. I loaded the TrueType
fonts into my System File and put the TrueType Init into the
System Folder. That's it.

I wanted to put the TrueType init into my system folder, but what I got from
apple.com only included the fonts. Where can I get the init? Also, when I
tried to get other fonts from mac.archive.umich.edu I couldn't get them
(they have :c4 attached to their names, what does that mean).

I actually verified that they do work together today. I tried using
the truetype fonts in the info-mac/font/tt directory at sumex-aim.stanford.edu.

The fonts in that directory are given in the regular, AFM and trutype
formats. T tried using the truetype format fonts by opening them up
with Suitcase II. Everything seemed to work fine. They showed nicely
on the screen at various sizes and printed even nicer on our
laserwriter II-NT. The only question I have is the following:
Supposedly you need only one font file to describe the font in any
size, since it is descibed geometrically. However some of the fonts
came in more than one sizes - and this doesn't make much sense to me.

 Tony
