[comp.sys.mac.misc] Getting system error ID=29 from HD Backup

mckenney@talos.pm.com (Frank McKenney) (04/27/91)

I recently ran into a problem with the Apple-supplied HD
Backup program on a Mac SE/30, and would like to know if
anyone has seen the same problem, or could offer any advice
on what might be causing the problem.

On four successive attempts to back up the 40 Mb internal
drive to DS-HD 3.5" diskettes, or to a combination of DS-HD
and DS-DD (800K) diskettes, HD Backup died with an Apple
system error ID=29. On the fifth attempt, using only DS-DD
(800K) diskettes, HD Backup ran to completion.

Queries:

    1) Will HD Backup handle 3.5" HD diskettes properly?
Stocking DS-DD diskettes only for backup purposes
      seems a little counterproductive.

    2) What <is> an ID=29? I was unable to locate this
particular code in any of the Mac manuals available to
      me.

My thanks, in advance, for any suggestions or ideas anyone can
offer.
