A SIMM Adapter Module for upgrading QMS PS410 memory is now
available from MacDepot. I called them on Tuesday, April 23, and
they were backordered. I placed an order, and it arrived on Friday,
April 26. The cost for the module is $69.00 plus $5.00 for Airborne
overnight delivery. I picked up four used 256K SIMMs for $15.00.
My total cost for a one meg upgrade was $89.00! That's a lot better
then the $285 to $375 price range for the QMS upgrade.
The upgrade consists of a module that fits in the PS410's memory
expansion slot. The module has four SIMM slots on it. You can use
256K or 1Meg SIMMs, you must use 4 of the same kind. There is a
jumper that needs to be removed for 1Meg SIMMs...no cutting though,
just pull the jumper off the pins (easy to replace too). Slide the
module into the printer and power up.
Now my 8.5"x14" newsletter that wouldn't print before prints fine.
MacDepot is at 800-222-2808 (Ask for Ian)
The order form says it is item;

It is made by BAY Electronics (503) 293-7968
