Hello, it is me again. I need help very badly. I am encountering some type of serious debilitating system error. It all started when I installed 4 x 1Mb SIMMS chips in my Mac Plus. The problem has something to do with the 800K disk drive. I am running system 6.04 under Multifinder 6.04. The problem is that whenever I have been running an application for several minutes, and want to use the disk drive for something like reading a file or writing a file, when I insert the disk into the drive and the machine starts to read the disk, the system crashes. I get an error message ID = 10. I checked this with the System Errors desk accessory and it says it is a "line 1111 trap error." I have no clue what this means. I thought it might be an init problem so I spent an entire day removing inits and whatnot; no luck. The disk drive seems to function when I have not been working in any applications right after startup. I next began to investigate the possibillity that I have a virus. I became suspicious when I noticed a file in my system that had a title of a document that I had thrown out some time ago, but the type was the filename of part of a game that I had FTP'ed from UTEXAS rascal. On closer inspection, I noticed that many of the files in my system folder had modifications dated 1938. January 11, 1938 was a common date among several of these files. When I attempted to run Norton Utilities Disk Doctor it tells me that the time and date on my machines clock seems to be wrong. How it would know that, I have no idea. I checked both of my hard disks with the latest versions of VIREX and Disifectant and detect no viruses. Gatekeeper has given me no virus warnings either. I do not know what else to try; but I do need to get the bugs out of this machine so I can begin to get some productive work done. If any of you out there are Macintosh gurus and know what the problem is and how to correct it, I would greatly appreciate hearing from you. I would appreciate even guesses, any help would be beneficial. E-mail me if you have any ideas.
