Prepare yourself for a rather strange problem:
My Mac, for unknown reasons, gets tempermental when I add INITs
to the system folder whose names begin with "S." The problem
first showed itself when I tried to add "SoundMaster 1.65" last
week. Because this is not crucial software, I just removed
SoundMaster and kept on computing. Then this week I tried to
add "SetPath." When this gave the same problem (described
below) I was a bit peeved, but figured I could get along without
SetPath too. Then today I tried to add "SuitCase II" and sure
enough, the problem reoccurred. I *need* to use SuitCase, so
I implore anyone who can solve the following problem, please
reply:
System info: Mac IIci w/8 megs, 2 video devices, System 6.0.5.
Problem: When a new INIT with a name beginning with "S" is
added, no INIT after the new INIT will load. This
problem did *not* occur with "DepthGauge," "^LipService,"
"Tattle Tale," "CacheControl," or "Open Wide," all of
which I added in-between the "S" INIT additions.
Disabling "INIT cdev 3.0" has had no effect.
If you have any ideas, please reply here and/or send e-mail.
Thansk!
Kurt
