[comp.sys.mac.misc] Large backups

I'm about to be pruchasing a 600 meg hard drive. I will, of course, need to back
it up now and then. I can think of a few possible methods.
   1. Using tape backup - the Teac unit seems to be what is sold. I know the
Apple unit is disgustingly slow. How fast and effective is the Teac? What
other tape drives are out there?

   2. SyQest cartridge backups. I am not going this route for two main reasons
on a per meg basis the carts cost a lot , and the reliability can be
      questionable.

   3. DAT backup systems. I'm not backing THAT much up and I don't need that
      much speed.

So, how do tape drive backup systems shake out for the Mac?
