I have a friend with grievous set of problems concerning her mac and the various SCSI perherials she owns. She has a Mac SE/30 w/40HD, an ADS 105 (both Quantum PS OEM's), an Chinon CD-ROM, and an HP DeskScan (?)... the flatbed scanner. THe problem is she can't hook them all together at once without some serious bizarre things happening. They are hooked together like this... Mac (internal 40)<=====> ADS 105 <=====> Chinon <=====> HP Scanner 7 0 4 ? 2 -- SCSI ID# The problem is twofold... first, the line will not recognize both the scanner and the CD-ROM at the same time... either one or the other. I smell a SCSI ID conflict, but can't be sure as the CD-ROM was temp. on loan to someone else and wasn't there. Second, when anything is extended from the ADS, the INternal 40 is 'lost,' and can only be force-mounted using the SCSI Probe CDEV. Areal pain in the ass when the Internal40 is the System disk. Everything is set right , the startup CDEV is set... all I wonder about is Termination on the HP, but she says it's terminated. If anyone has any suggestions, email is preferable, but not required. Thanks for your help. __________________________________________________________________________ |Ross Roberts | KEYSTONE DRAFT LIGHT DRY!!! | |rroberts@magnus.acs.ohio-state.edu|The Great Light Beer In a Can | | |That Tastes Like Beer In A Bottle | |Vai, Rush, Apple, Pioneer, Honda |That Tastes Like Beer In A Keg | |and about $50,000 are all I need! |With No Beer Taste, and No Aftertaste| --------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've also encountered SCSI questions when hooking up a Chinon CD-Rom but it was easily solved by changing the order of the devices. Try the CD-ROM last (or first.) This solved my problem. Hope this helps! -Kevin MacDonald
