Hi, all. Ok, now that we know that sys7 is gonna be at ftp.apple.com in image file formats, I finally have to confront the fact that I have no idea how to use an image file. o Do I have to FTP it in binary format? o Once I get it, how do I turn it into a disk? Email would be best but if alot of other people want to know, I could post a summary, too. -- Ian Chai Internet: chai@cs.ukans.edu Bitnet: 2fntnougat@ukanvax I don't believe in flaming. If I appear to be flaming, either (a) it's an illusion due to the lack of nonverbal cues or (b) my sprinkler system has suffered a momentary glitch, so just ignore me until it's fixed.

Yes, unless they have BinHexed it (I hope they haven't) >o Once I get it, how do I turn it into a disk? Use DiskCopy 4.2, also on ftp.apple.com. Or use MountImage, to make a simulated disk, and install from there. This method is much faster. -- Matthew T. Unfortunately, with MountImage 1.2B1, it doesn't seem to work-- running the Installer produces a bus error, copies do not seem to work reliably, etc, etc. Anyone know why this is? MountImage worked for earlier Systems and System 7 candidates. -- Matthew T. Russotto russotto@eng.umd.edu russotto@wam.umd.edu .sig under construction, like the rest of this campus.
