One of the problems with Optical Mice is that they tend to 'stick' to their pads after a while. That felt just gets gummed up after a while and it doesn't slide like it should. Then one evening it dawned on me. Use a bit of Pledge or other wax spray on the pad and wipe it off with a paper towel to make it really slick. Then you can put celophane tape over the felt feet, which can be replaced weekly. This plastic and wax combination works great, and you can almost feel the mouse hovering over the pad, with no friction!
