We are experiencing problems in using MacDraw II 1.0v2 with our Mac II and a new 21" Apple monochrome monitor. The position where the pointer appears on the monitor and where MacDraw II thinks the pointer is do not match. Furthermore, when an object is cut and pasted onto another location, the moved object does not appear fully at its new location, while parts of the object remain at its former location. I brought our copy of MacDraw II to another Mac II (if my memory serves me correct) using another Apple 21" monitor, and it functioned normally. We then replaced the video card inside the second Mac II with the video card from our Mac II, and the problem showed up again. The two video cards are not identical. Our video card has a DB-15 connector and a part number of 820-0400-06 (1989/90 Apple). I do not have the part number of the other video card, but it has a D-25 (shell style) connector and was manufactured in 1987 by Apple. I hesitate to conclude that the problem is with our video card, since another professor is also experiencing the same problem. In the "The Help Desk" part of a recent issue of MacWEEK (04.16.91 I believe), it states that new ROM chips are required for the Mac II when the current video cards from Apple are used. Could this be the problem? Thanks for any help. Glenn (chin@sask.usask.ca)

The problem you are having was a known bug in MacDraw II 1.0 that cropped up when using a video board that's not 72 dpi. This was fixed in 1.1. I'd suggest you upgrade.
