I started up my Mac SE the other day and got a sad mac with this numbers: 00000004 0000FF00 What does it mean? Recently, I upgraded to 4 meg. The problems are intermittent. I turned off the Mac after I got the sad mac and it booted fine. Occasionally, the mouse cursor locks up and I have to reboot. (bits set correspond to bad bits. 8 bits are set, 8 chips are bad). It is the second SIMM in Bank 1. Seems more likely to be a bad installation or maybe a damaged SIMM board than 8 bad chips. -- Matthew T. Sad Mac code 0004 means RAM test failed in bank A, the second number is the bite that failed. Guess your SIMMs are defective. If the second number varies, it's worse, but if not, replacing the defective SIMM should help. Roman Kanala, CUEPE, University of Geneva, Switzerland, kanala@sc2a.unige.ch
