Overview: (watery-eyes on) I'm feeling pretty sad, but I have to let my Macintosh IIcx go in order to raise some bucks in order to buy a house for my wife and soon-to-be-born. Anyways ... (watery-eyes off) Hardware: Macintosh IIcx 16.7Mhz, 68030 processor meaning it has 256-byte data and instruction caches built-in as well as a Paged Memory Management Unit (PMMU means it can run Unix!). Includes 68882 16.7Mhz floating-point math coprocessor 8-bit video card which supports multiple Apple monitors. You can work from 256 colors or shades of grays to simple 1 bit black and white. Apple High-Resolution RGB Monitor. This is the (IMHO) all-time favorite monitor of Macintosh users. It brings you brilliant color graphics and sharp text on a high-resolution 13" screen. Capable of displaying 16 to 256 colors from palette of more than 16 million. Screen measures 640x480 pixels and is a Sony Trinitron CRT original. Includes internal Quantum Pro-80S hardrive; serial number does not fall in range of the "sticky" ones. Fast 19ms seek-access time. Extremely quiet operation. This baby "hums" right along. 5MB of RAM; upgradable to 8MB through Chip Merchant. Has built-in 1.4Mb Apple SuperDrive which allows IIcx to read from and write to 3.5-inch Macintosh floppy disks, as well as the 3.5 inch disks used by IBM PC's (and compatibles) and the Apple IIgs. (I've done it many times.) Three (count'em, 3) 32-bit NuBus expansion slots. Unlike a Mac Plus or a Classic, this Macintosh is expandable and upgradable. Mac IIcx has small footprint and can be placed on its side on the floor to create more desk/work space. Unique locking power switch. In event of power failure, the Mac can reboot "automagically" when the power resumes. Seven built-in ports: 2 serial, 2 ADB, SCSI, DB-19 (for external floppy), and 1 sound port. Sound provided through the special Apple Sound chip; an 8-bit stereo chip sampling at 44.1Khz and includes four-voice wave-table synthesis - capable of driving stereo headphones or other stereo equipment through sound jack. 256K ROM SIMMS and if Apple Computer Inc. ever comes out with ROM upgrades, you can unplug old ones and plug in new ones without any tools; very simple operation. RAM may then be expanded to 32MB. Oh yeah, and a newer, light-weight mouse and a full-size Apple keyboard (I hate those mini ones). Software: Your choice of Macintosh operation system to run; ie. Golden Release of System 7.0 or any 6.0.x release. Includes all software drives for laser printers and dot matrix printers. Numerous LaserWriter fonts. Some "really" neat ones that will spruce up any report or paper. Latest and greatest Hypercard v2.02 (and earlier versions, too). System utilities: Apple File Exchange (to read/write DOS/IIgs disks), HD SC Setup, Disk First Aid, Font/DA Mover, Disinfectant 2.4, and many others. MacWrite, MacPaint, MacDraw, WordPerfect, MS Word 4.0, MS Excel, Think C and other development environments. Includes latest version of MacBugs, ResEdit, Peek/Poke, etc. You name it, I have it. Tons of other software, too! Both shareware and store bought. Worth hundreds (if not thousands) of dollars. Price: Asking $4500 (negotiable). I've used this machine less than two years (and it cost me much more than what I'm asking) and never, ever had a problem with it. I've developed Macintosh software on it and have ran many other types of applications and they all execute perfectly. I have original boxes for CPU, Monitor, and Keyboard, so I can safely ship it anywhere in US. I have Apple Imagewriter and Apple Ethernet card (including drivers). You can have the Imagewriter for free. Ethernet card is negotiable. Call me or send email.
