What is the best way to make a system floppy? What are the best things to include on it. It would be nice to always be able walk around with a system floppy that had useful things on it. I need one that will work on mac ranging from the Mac Plus to the IIcx. Any suggestion are appreciated, acyoung@sunrise.acs.syr.edu

There is an option to install minimum system software for any macintosh. It will take about 600K, so you will only have 200K to play with (unless you use high density disks, which means that you can't use them on older machines). By deleting certain files (the monitors cdev, the responder cdev, the keyboard cdev, the mouse cdev, various desk accessories, etc.) you might free up another 50 to 100 K. I don't know just what you'd want to use this disk for, but some of the things I might on one (or several) include: a virus program like Disinfectant 2.4 (318K), Layout 1.9 (41K), a disk catalog program like Filelist (35K) and the catalog of your other disks and hard drives, a file compression program like Compact Pro (95K), maybe a few good sounds and a sound-playing program, a small game, etc., etc. Have fun, Alan -- -------------------------------------------------------------- Alan R Fry | You know what I hate? afry@uhura.cc.rochester.edu | Rhetorical questions --------------------------------------------------------------
