:I have had much the saem problem, and I took the mouse off, opened it up and
:cleaned it from head to tail (pun intended). When my mouse did what you
:describe, I merely cleaned the litttle rollers where the ball was, and that
:h mb very little effect on it. When I opened the whole case, I found
:that somehow I had small threads of stuff, like fibers, or lint wrapped
around
:the little roller bars! I took a twizer and cleaned it all out, washed the
:ball with a cleaning solution (they get dirty too!) used for VHS tapes, and
:did the same for the rollers. I so cleaned it with a damp cloth from head to
:tail (pun again) and made sure the connections on both the cord and my mac
:were also clean.
:
:The result is that I have not had a single problem (probably speaking too
:soon!) with it since then. And that was about 4 months ago....

I have been having problems with sticky mice, and have traded in
the mouse which came with my IIci three times already. (I
purchased the IIci last September) Because I have been having
a lot of problems, I have been exploring alternatives.

The two alternatives available to me seem to be the
Kensington TurboMouse ($114 at a local dealer is the best
non-mailorder price I can find) and an optical mouse w/pad
for $75. I would like to conduct a survey of the Mac users
out there to see what you folks prefer and why.

Please respond via e-mail if possible if you are
reading mac.misc, as I do not read it often. People in
mac.games can post or e-mail. I will post a summary
of my responses to either group if there is interest.

Thanks in advance -- I hope to get many responses.
